#157: 6/11/2025

Summer has finally sprung here in Badhairland.  It's warm with the occasional thunderstorm, and the schools are out.

Of course, this also means the Tourons are also out.  Like a bad rash, they appear on our roads and at the park. Most aren't a problem --and then you get that one that left their brains at home, the ones that shouldn't have left the house to begin with, that seriously need to just go the hell home, or at least go somewhere else far away from me.  Seems like there's always one or two cranky individuals who forget they're supposed to be enjoying themselves on vacay.

Very grateful for my coworker and the volunteers who help me out during the day. I'd have jumped someone's shit by now --and the season has just started!

A few trips in the works, a small one this weekend. My off-road motorcycle friends are having their semi-annual shindig a few miles down the street, so I will be heading that way after work on Saturday. I'm attempting to camp out in my car; the last time I attempted this I woke with a very sore back, so trying something new involving a folded mattress pad over the folded down back seats. Stay tuned on that one.

I was at the grocery store the other day and found a few things I had to pause and take a photo of.

First I found this..... oil can? of gin.  I don't think I have ever had gin, not sure I'd ever try it. Honestly though, I'd buy this just for the container.....

Next I found... Sauerkraut.... Don't get me wrong, I love me some 'kraut. That pickled, fermented cabbage is supposed to be good for you.

.........I don't like it that much.

Finally I came across this. Do you see the problem here?

These are NECTARINES. Not peaches. Now bear in mind that nectarines are just peaches with a single gene that's different--they turn out fuzz-less.  You'd think the produce manager would know the difference though.

I found some new pretties this week to take photos of.

This is Garlic Mustard. It gives off a faint garlic smell when bruised or cut. Folks used to gather this stuff in the spring, when they were hungry for some fresh greens after a long cold winter.

I had to look this up-- I don't remember seeing this past few years. My phone tells me that this is a "Rocky Mountain Raspberry".  Aren't they pretty?

Catch you on the flipside!
Aye,
Kraneia
