Ah yes. Nothing like some storms to remind one of the awesomeness of nature. It helps when it's just a little thunder and lightning and no hail. Of course, the sky afterwards is cool too.
And let's not forget the whimsy. I finally got the correct sized "eyes" for Mr. Eufy. Honestly I think we could give the little guy a better name, what do you think? Feel free to leave suggestions. I promise I will record video of him munching the dirt soon.
The eyes were sadly cheaply made and I had to glue the clear plastic "bubble" back on to the base; even now I'm unsure it will stay; it's liable to fall off the first time I flip the thing over to clean the roller.
One of the other pairs of eyes I took and stuck magnetic tape on the back and they're now stuck to the side of the fridge... No one has said anything yet. But they're there... judging you while you sit on the couch and eat......Today the munchkin and myself took the Homestake Trail. They'd expressed an interest in checking it out, and implied they wanted to lose weight. I think by the end of the day they regretted their life decisions... the Homestake Trail apparently runs 3.5 miles from behind the house in Lead, clear down to Deadwood. I've done it, but it has been a couple years. Fortunately it was a somewhat cool day. I was developing a blister by the end of things though. We stopped and had lunch in Deadwood, and then it was time to slog the 3.5 miles back. My legs are very sore, but I did get some good views. This is close to the Deadwood end. There's a couple giant green tanks, I assume their version of water towers to fuel the fire hydrants down below.
The trail had changed somewhat since the last time I walked that way; I assume because of some property disputes the trail had to be rerouted in a couple of spots. Also, one section through a cutting was closed and a detour made as there was a rock slide in there. We snuck in anyway as the munchkin is a big rock hound and wanted to see the various layers of rock.
And now I am off! To find some Tylenol or Ibuprofen.
Stay tuned for more shenanigans!
