#37: Holding On

I haven't been a "Blanton" since about 2000 or so....
It's surprising what we hold on to. People, places, things. Especially things. I was picking through yet another box in the closet, looking for things to chuck and kept finding things I thought were already gone. Things I have no clue why I still had them. And things I thought I had already given away or sent to the Goodwill pile.

People are like that, as well. You probably have one or two people who, for whatever reason, are still in your life and you have no clue why they are there. Was this a strange turn somewhere in the past that brought them to you? And why are they here, now? Sometimes they don't even know. Or they disappear for a while only to pop up again. The whole thing is kind of odd, sometimes.

Linvlle River
Monday we went out on the Pinnacle again. Or some did; I was handed the usual pair of long handled loppers and a hand saw and was asked to hang with several others at the bottom. There were many pine saplings leaning into the trail that needed to be removed so they wouldn't come down later and block the trail. A lot of them were small enough the loppers were sufficient; but there were several slightly larger ones that required the use of the hand saw. This seemed suspiciously like work. But we managed to get all the worst offenders removed and was even given a verbal pat on the back from the boss, and a thank you from a couple of folks out walking their dog. So I count the day as a good one even though I didn't get many photos this time. There wasn't a lot blooming as of yet, although we saw plenty of daffodils here and there. The sun was shining but it was a bit chilly, and a stiff breeze made me glad I wore my fluffy orange jacket rather than the thin grey one I usually wear.

The weather is still doing its oddities as well. February was a bit on the warm side...now that it is March and supposed to be springlike, it is close to freezing again. I am hoping the current cold snap will be the last one, however. I hadn't heard anything about the peach crop, so maybe they hadn't started budding out yet. We can only hope.

Holding on... still holding on....

Aye,
Kraneia
