By 9 am it had come up to the ledge on the back door. I had forgotten to put salt out on the back steps, and it built up. A quick shovel or two (so that we could continue to open the back door) and it was back inside where it was warm. I left the front steps alone, for the most part however.

watch that first step... |
This was a bit early for us. Old Man hadn't quite finished giving off his leaves just yet, so the 30 MPH gusts took care of some of the leftovers. We didn't have the pristine white snow we usually get about February... this day, our snow was speckled with brown.
Mixed in with the snow was some sleet, making things a mess and not really worth fighting with for a snowman. This time. I contented myself with taking photos from the front door, and a little later on a quick troop down to the creek for a few more....
My Moss-Fairy Queen found herself buried in a blanket of snow. Only the tippy top of her head (and the tip of a wing?) poked from the cold wet stuff. I suspect it was her doing that we didn't lose power like so many others had.
Now, as Monday comes to a close, I am suffering from an acute case of "cabin fever". Dent got to stay home from work, I suspect he has gotten bored as well. although he's managed to bide his time in front of a computer watching Youtube things. I can only hope tomorrow will be nice enough to go out. There are a few Christmas things I need to locate. I generally don't go too crazy with the presents, but there are a few special people in my life I get things for.
Looks all Christmassy and shit |
I left Dent's car alone. He can clean off his own damn car. He literally did not leave the house from Saturday evening onward. It's been almost three days now.
"I'm staying out of the cold, I don't want to get sick", he says. I can see the sense in that, but.....five minutes won't kill you. And it wasn't that cold, really. Not as cold as it will be tomorrow morning....
I spent last night baking goodies, just to have stuff to do. I don't mind winter, but being stuck in the house gets old. I'm weird like that, I rarely go anywhere when I can go, and get annoyed when I can't. That happens to a lot of people I guess.
Also getting geared up for a trip in a couple of weeks. The duffel bag sits in the corner, waiting to be filled. Places to go and people to see. Will be a bit of a trek, and not sure what I will find at the end of it. Good memories, hopefully. And more incentives to travel in the spring.
Now taking applications for the Polar Bear Club.... |
Say tuned!
