#27: And Now For Something Completely Different.......

Fall is slowly fading into winter here in Badhairland. The other night involved snuggly socks, a blankie, and a steaming cup of hot chocolate. In a couple of days, the insanity will begin--that quietness that Thanksgiving brings, and then whoosh--all of a sudden people will, seemingly, so crazy. I plan on avoiding Hicksville as much as possible--at least until after January 1st.

The holiday stuff is pretty much ready to go. The outside lights are up, will do the official "lighting of the Technicolor Trailer" Thursday evening. The trees, big and little, are both up and ready be admired.

Just a matter of Hurry-Up-And-Wait here.

Yesterday we visited Steele Creek.

There were a few things to take photos of, but most of the area was painted in becoming shades of brown and gray, their winter finery all out for all to see.

One unusual fellow who happened to be out and about was this ginormous toad. I kinda figured toads hibernated when it got cold. But it was kinda sorta warmish, so maybe he came out to enjoy the sun one last time before settling in for his long winter's nap. He did a pretty good job blending in to the
dead leaves and things, and we probably wouldn't of noticed and walked by had he not moved. At any rate, we all had to stop and get photographs of him. As you can see, he wasn't impressed by all the attention. I hope after we passed through he found himself a nice warm hole to hide out in.

The other day  I did a little bit cleaning out in the yard. There was some raking involved, and sweeping of the moss gardens. I am sure I will have to do it again before too long. The trees aren't done losing their leaves, and "Old Man" in the woods behind the house hasn't even begun to drop any of his yet. So raking around the cars will probably have to wait another couple weeks or so.

And on a totally different track, ever wondered what happens when Mongolians discover heavy metal?

This.

Here's hoping you folks have a happy Thanksgiving.

Stay tuned!

aye,
Kraneia
