#179: 'Merica 🦅

 

So here we are, almost done with June already. 
The park has been overrun with the usual tourists. And some unusual ones, too.... An uptick in the number of busses bedevils my days. Come on folks. You can't claim you did your homework and still think it's a good idea to bring a full sized tour bus up there.

But, no longer my circus. Trail maintenance is my priority now! Y'all can sort out your own damn parking! 😁

Last week we had an unusual visitor: a freaking bear. Wildlife guys ran it off, and I hope for its sake it stays away. Because people are stupid. Several other sightings in the area however, have me figuratively holding my breath. 

In happier news, we have ducklings once again! I counted 6 the other day. Hopefully nothing will eat them before they get the chance to grow up. 

Saturday was spent heading towards Spearfish trail, cutting stuff back where it was starting to grow out into the trail. I have to do this at least once every summer.  

Next weekend is July 4th. I expect the stupidity to intensify exponentially... Debating only doing a half day, and really parking uptown in time to watch the parade. It's loud, but there is candy involved. Everything is better with candy. 

At any rate,  I am going to be SO ready for the end of summer. I will unfortunately be missing Rush Day this year as the bastards scheduled it smack dab in the middle of Bike Week here, and I wouldn't do that to my boss. But perhaps next year. And maybe I can do something else this fall, once the crazy dies down somewhat. We'll see. 

Here's hoping your July 4th is, as my daughter likes to say, "Bussin". It's okay to live your country, even if you don't trust the people leading it.
