#63: The New Normal

Sanitized for your protection.
Opening has been pretty much as I expected. The folks at the dealer tables are all wearing masks, or plastic face shields. I think I spend more time wiping machines and re affixing sticky notes than any actual cleaning. "Let overnight do the floors" I got told. Personally I have no clue whether anyone comes in overnight. So naturally the floors look like shit. Not my problem apparently.

Next couple of days I work til midnight. Not too thrilled about this, but don't have much of a choice--boss lady wigged out and just quit, making an already short handed group even smaller. HER boss posted an ad in the paper, but I am not holding much hope at the moment--people see the word "janitorial" and assume it's a shitty job. Really, folks, it isn't as bad as you think. Yes, you may have to scrub a toilet or two. Big whoop. At least you're dealing mainly downstairs, and not doing the actual housekeeping. Although I am getting annoyed at having to play "fetch" when I work in the evening (they really ought to have someone from housekeeping hanging out for that!). But hey, this seems to be the norm, so if the floors look shitty, again, not my problem.

Today we went scoping for places to camp in the area. Saw a few places, took a bit of a walk, had some lunch in Custer.  It was warm-ish so we were able to shed our jackets. I made mental notes to return and look at stuff in the stores. A lot of it is touristy, as you'd think, but not all of it.

There were a few people milling around Custer. I was glad to see things slowly returning to normal. Or what passes for normal anyhow.

Now that the weather has improving a bit, I plan on doing more walking on those days off I manage to score. I am hoping some of the places that have been closed will be open soon, if they aren't already.

Here's hoping you and yours are keeping on keeping on.

Stay Tuned!
Aye,
Kraneia
