#172: in like a lion

It has been a wild and wacky weather kinda week.  We woke up Sunday to this:

We got close to a foot of snow. Everything froze again. Fortunately the city and DOT were ready for it and within a couple hours the roads were passable, if not great. I had to help the munchkin uncover their car so that they could get in to work.

That was Sunday; this morning it looked like this.

The high today was 71.... needless to say the snow hasn't really stuck around.

On Monday, I went to pick up my drum. After waiting four months for the head to come in, I finally got the message that it was all done!

Now all I gotta do is figure out how to clean the aluminum shell. Someone suggested aluminum tire rim cleaner, so I will try a little bit on the edge and see what it looks like. Hopefully it will look good as new.

I did notice where there was a deep scratch on the side, almost cut through the metal. I figure whoever messed up the old head did that, too. So she's got some scars on her. Still sounds good!

Tuesday was Saint Patrick's day. I dug out the once-a-year greenery and the munchkin and I had some st paddy's day beer.

Well, I had mead anyhow. Someone made soda bread and whisky butter to go with it, so we had a nice snack while we did our best imitation of the Irish.

Tonight was crock pot BBQ night. The roommate had a pork roast that needed to be cooked up and he requested BBQ, so I grabbed the spices and in it went.

I remembered the cole slaw this time. It was very yummy.

This afternoon I went and grabbed my summer stuff from storage. When it starts getting warm I don't pack up all my winter clothes, but I do pack up a lot of them. It's been a weird past few weeks, bouncing between snow and warm weather. Given the exceedingly dry winter we've had, this doesn't bode well for what the summer will bring. We've already got a wildfire down in Custer. It's far enough away to not be a worry here but the smoke is a problem when the wind shifts. Hopefully they'll put it out soon.

Today is the Spring Equinox! It's also Ostara, if you're into that kind of thing. So, happy equinox/Ostara!

Aye,
Kraneia
