#98: Snow Day

As I sit here on the bed, I watch the snow fly by my upper-story window. It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas even though it's only mid-November. The house is starting to smell like the simmering chicken soup I got going in the roommate's crock pot; I had to improvise a little as the only veggies in the house were some bell peppers and onion and some canned diced tomatoes. But it smells good; a little taste test earlier and I think it will be pretty good.

I played hooky from class today; an email to the prof revealed it wasn't a big deal to skip this morning's deal and the one this afternoon is most likely a "work day" (IE do the busy work so prof doesn't have to teach!). So I'm following the mantra that "If you ain't gotta be out in it, stay home", something you folks in the south were never good at. It's like, oh look! Snow. Let's go do "Snownuts" in the parking lot and next thing you know you're in a ditch. No thank you.  I think we're going on close to 9-10 inches already, and no sign really of it slowing down. I tried clearing the sidewalk and the driveway a bit; it will have to be shoveled again soon.

Currently watching a live stream of the ISS out in space, as it flies across the skies. Hard to believe that blue and brown below is the Earth. At the moment it's flying over South America. Someplace that is no doubt warmer than it is here. It's calming to have it going in the background. The music goes well with the snowy blustery weather outside.

I took a look at my class listings and compared it to the "list" they give you when you start; I realized I am a lot closer to being done than I thought; depending on if they're counting some of my transferred stuff as "electives" I could be done as soon as fall 2023. Still waiting on that appointment with my advisor to make sure. Also need one or two classes that they only offer once in a while. Hoping they let me do it as "independent study" to get that done.

I got bored with Twitter and left it. The account is still there; I just got bored with it. Maybe I'll go back to it at some point. Hell, I don't know. Now I'm eyeing the DeviantArt account. I rarely post photos on there any more; at the times I think about it I don't have the time, and then I forget about it. So maybe that will go next. It's odd how much I am withdrawing from the internet lately. Perhaps we should all focus on the here and now, rather than people half a world away.

No photos today; I may dig out the camera and get some of the snowy landscape later once it stops snowing. If it stops any time soon.  I feel sorry for the folks who have to be out in this; such as the roommate and the mail carriers and the construction people (there's a few crazy enough to keep working).

Stay warm, safe, and awesome!
Aye,
Kraneia
