#68: Moab

..........I suppose the previous post would have been more appropriate later on in the month. But it just seemed so fitting somehow. The mad Marquis seemingly shutting himself and his friends indoors to party while the outside world crashed around him. And yet Death managing to make its way in after all.

This is fine.

Just spent an exciting week somewhere else. Some folks decided to take a little trip down to Moab, Utah. Since I had some PTO time to burn, I used it, and went along for the ride. Now for those wondering, Utah has a statewide mask mandate. And they stick to it. No maskie, no helpie. Which is awesome. We also limited our runs to town and camped out in the middle of nowhere. So no covey for us! And now I am back, with a few photos for you all.

Obligatory Motorcycle Pic.
Mt. Peale in the background.

Summer hadn't quite left the building yet, so the daytime temps were in the 80s. The place is desert southwest anyhow, so plants were short, scrubby things with at the very least prickles or thorns. Along with a fair amount of junipers and "pinions" (a type of desert pine)

Our home for the week.

There's a fair amount of copper in the soil, leaving the rocks with a bit of a greenish tinge as the stuff oxidized over time (think Statue of Liberty, or a penny after it's been left in the rain for a couple years)

And of course, you can't go to Utah without visiting the Arches. No, not the GOLDEN arches. Well, I suppose in the right light they'd be kind of goldish. Mostly they were brownish though, with red highlights.

This is Pine Tree Arch.

Which is the road less travelled?

Back to reality now though.... As I look outside, it looks like a blizzard has taken over. Not that anything is sticking (yet), but at times it's almost totally a white-out going on.  At this rate, I'll be posting white winter pics before I know it.

Soon enough will be Halloween...you know what that means.... Christmas decorations at Walmart. Hell, they started putting those out a couple weeks ago.

Stay tuned.

Aye,
Kraneia
