Shelby, NC, is roughly 20 miles south of the house. We went the other morning to the farmer's market (imagine that, I managed to get the roomie out of bed before 10...on a Saturday....) We didn't have much time for looking, so today I returned to the area for a few things that needed a closer look.
They have really livened up the place. There were these huge pots everywhere with flowers and trees growing in them.
This was one of several out in front of the Shelby police station. I thought the pink things were fuchsia at first, but getting a better look at the leaves I found they were begonias, the "angel wing" sort.
There were other pots spread around with these, but with red flowers.
At one point, the Masons met in this building.
The locals refer to it as the "Egyptian Building" nowadays. I think it currently houses a store of some sort (I wasn't really paying attention)
I don't care for squirrels much. But I can respect cute when I see it, especially when they take the time to pose for me. This one is obviously used to being around people, although it was still keeping its distance.
That's all we have "time" for today, boys and girls! See you next time :)
